One man shot dead, several injured as Francis Mureithi campaigns in Embakasi East

Fear of Violence in Embakasi East Ahead of August Polls.

A man, who Kenyan herald has identified as ‘Wambua’ has been shot dead and several others have survived gun wounds in Vumilia area, Upper Savannah ward,  Embakasi East during an event presided by Francis Mureithi, an aspirant of Embakasi East Parliamentary seat.

Francis Mureithi was distributing food in Vumilia area of Upper Savannah ward in Embakasi east where the incident occured. Men with guns said to be in the company of Francis Mureithi opened fire and shot at the crowd. The Nairobi area police are yet to comment on the same.

Francis Mureithi has been accused of violence several times including torching of several houses belonging to Kisii community within the Embakasi Constituency.

Babu Owino

Mureithi is vying on Jubilee ticket battling it out with veteran and flamboyant politician Babu Owino who is running on an ODM ticket. The Embakasi seat has been seen as one of the hotly contested seats. Violence has been severally reported across board. Babu Owino was not reachable for comment.
