Stephen Jennings; The briefcase developer

By @EddyKamau4

The line between reality and fantasy is so thin particularly when the person dealing seems to be as credible as the illusions he trades in. Such are like the new city projects happening in Africa whereby so called investors have creatively been able to manipulate and swindle Africans of their hard earned money.

We all dream and yearn for a better tomorrow, and with the advancement of technology, we can’t tell what the future has in store. And therefore when ‘visionary’ people come with ideas of what we cannot even fathom, we the gullible Africans just follow their lead.

As I wouldn’t dispute the fact that technology will continue to grow beyond our imaginations, we must observe and comprehend what is realistically attainable and what maybe a master con.

Rendeavour Group which is headed by Steven Jennings is clearly a name on everyone’s mind when they think of such fantasy. This guy has pioneered multi-billion dollar projects in Africa, partnering with local and foreign investors alongside government to create the perfect future fantasy. I don’t say that some of these projects are unattainable; it’s just that their execution is just but dreams in phases. This guy sells dreams in a briefcase and what shocks me is why so many of our African states are falling for this fallacy! Why can’t he show us what he has done so we can trust him with our gold?

I say this in light of the Tatu City project in Kenya which was conceptualized in 2010 and never started. It joins a long list of other failed start up cities in Africa conceptualized by the same Stephen Jennings.Any sane person would ask,  What happened to Ghanas Appolonias & King City?, DRC Congo’s Kiswishi City?,Nigerias Lekki & Jigina Cities? and Zambia’s Roma park? why are all this projects still in conceptual stages? Has this man actually ever developed anything?

Our African fore fathers passed down crucial wisdom; that we should take one step at a time, one project at a time, however we are just throwing caution to the wind. While it’s true that foreign investors are the way to go because of the benefits they bring, we must however be careful not to trust scrupulous people like Stephen Jennings who peddle as investors but are just out here to steal our gold.

I will talk more about the Tatu City project in detail in the next two weeks! Look out for it….

Wikipedia was started as a descendant of Nupedia, a now-abandoned project to produce a free encyclopedia,
begun by the on the internet media firm Bomis Nupedia had a fancy system of
peer testimonial and called for highly certified factors, yet the writing of articles was sluggish.

Undeniably believe that which you said. Your favorite justification seemed to be on the net the
simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you,
I definitely get annoyed while people consider worries that they just don’t
know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top
and also defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people could take a signal.
Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
