10 Patients Die, 257 Recover As Total Shoots To 31,441

Kenya’s virus load hit 31,441 after testing a 5,168 sample size, from which 426 tests came back positive for the novel COVID-19, Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi announced.

Addressing members of the fourth estate from Afya House, Dr Mwangangi said that the country’s positivity rate was at 7.9 percent.

Of the new infections, 9 were foreigners while 417 were Kenyans. 239 were males while 187 were females.

The youngest case was a three month old infant and the oldest 88 years old.

257 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries to 17,869.

On a sad note, 10 other patients, three of them youths have died.

This pushes the death toll to 516.

The cases were spread out in the counties as follows: Nairobi (132), Kiambu (24), Machakos (21), Kajiado (63), Kericho (48), Migori (17), Mombasa (16(, Kitui (13), Laikipia (13(, Nakuru (11), Kisumu (11), Uasin Gishu (10), Tharaka Nithi (8), Nyeri  (7), Busia (7), Makueni (6), Kilifi (4), Garissa (3), Nyandarua (3), Isiolo (2), Embu (2), Meru (1), Kirinyaga (1), Kakamega (1), Baringo (1) and Lamu (1).
