102 people have contracted COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman has confirmed.
Addressing reporters from Afya House during the daily COVID-19 briefing, Dr Aman said the cases were from a 2,668 sample size, bringing the caseload to 35,205.
All the newly detected infections were of Kenyans except 9 who were foreigners. Age-wise, the youngest case was a 1 year old infant while the oldest was aged 86.

In terms of gender, 51 were male while 51 were female.
In the counties, the cases were distributed as follows: Nairobi 41, Kitui 11, Kiambu 7, Turkana 4, Taita Taveta 4, Murang’a 2, Embu, Garissa each with 1 case.
80 patients have in the in the same period recovered from the virus. 30 were on the home-based care programme while the rest were receiving treatment from various health facilities.

This pushes the total number of recoveries to 21,310.
2 more patients died from the novel COVID-19, bringing fatalities to 599. The death rate in Kenya is 1.7 per cent, the ministry said.
According to Director of Public Health, Dr Francis Kuria, 664 COVID-19 patients are in various facilities. 25 others are admitted in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
