152 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours after testing a 2,224 samples, bringing the total confirmed cases to 36,981.
Of the new cases, 84 are male while 68 are female with the youngest case being a 3-year-old infant and the oldest was aged 89 years. Only 13 are foreigners while the rest are Kenyans.
110 patients were discharged after recovery, bringing the total number of recoveries to 23,887.
39 of the recoveries are from the home-based care programme while 71 are from hospitals across the country.
Two more patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 648.
In terms of counties, Nairobi had 34 new infections, Mombasa 24, Kisii 20, Kiambu 19, Kisumu 19, Nakuru 10, Turkana 8, Kajiado 3, Kakamega 2, Meru 2, Embu 2, Kericho, Marsabit, Nyamira, Samburu, Siaya, Uasin Gishu, Taita Taveta, Machakos and Murang’a all with 1 case each.
In Nairobi the 34 cases are from Dagoretti North (8), Embakasi East, Langata and Starehe (4) cases each, Embakasi West (3), Dagoretti South, Embakasi South and Westlands (2), Embakasi Central, Kasarani, Kibra, Roysambu and Ruaka (1) case each.
The 24 cases in Mombasa are from Mvita (8), Jomvu (7),Changamwe (4) Kisauni (3), and Nyali (2) cases.
The government has cited self medication as the biggest cause of Covid-19 deaths.
