Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday, October 21, arrested three robbery with violence suspects in Kajiado West Sub-County.
The police also recovered a loaded AK-47 rifle in the process.
In a statement released by the DCI on Wednesday evening, the three suspects are from a neighboring country though the investigative agency didn’t specify their nationality.
“DCI Detectives based at Kajiado West Sub-County have arrested three robbery with violence suspects and recovered a loaded AK 47 rifle.”
“The trio, all foreigners from a neighboring country, were arrested following a robbery incident where a lorry was shot at and forced to stop as it was heading towards Shompole Market,” reads the DCI statement in part.
The suspects are believed to be behind several robbery incidents in the region.
The DCI identified the suspects as Boniface Lesagi, Joseph Ole Ntito and Lekina Monoi.
According to the investigative agency, the three were arrested following an incident in which a lorry was shot at and forced to stop.
The ill-fated lorry ferrying goods to Shompole market at the time it was attacked.
It is reported that the three suspects escaped with thousands of shillings during the incident and property of unknown value.
The police said that some stolen property was later recovered from another vehicle of registration KBA 626Q.
“Seven individuals lost thousands of shillings and their mobile phones, some of which were recovered from a motor vehicle Reg No. KBA 626Q which the robbery suspects were traveling in,” the DCI added.
The three suspects are in police custody awaiting their arraignment in court.
