Four family members died while three others were seriously injured on Monday, December 28 following an accident at Karemo junction on Bondo-Usenge road.
The ill-fated vehicle was headed towards Usenge town when the accident happened.
According to one of the relatives of the victims, Walter Odek, the driver of the ill-fated car tried braking when a vehicle that was ahead of them made an abrupt turn.
“The vehicle that got involved in the accident tried to make an emergency brake before it lost control and veered off the road,” Odek said.
Speaking to the media, Odek stated that they were headed to a funeral in Usigu area when the Toyota Noah rolled killing four elderly members of his family (two grandmothers and two grandfathers) instantly.
He said that the driver tried to make an emergency stop, he lost control of the vehicle that veered off the road and rolled, Odek told Standard Digital.
Odek added that three other members of the family who were in the same vehicle sustained severe injuries.
While confirming the incident, Bondo Sub-county Police Commander Ms Roseline Chebosho said the bodies have since been moved to Lwak Mission hospital mortuary.
The three who sustained injuries were rushed to Kisumu for treatment.
