Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi on Thursday announced 183 Covid-19 cases from 4,188 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
This brings the total number of infections in the country to 36,576.
Of the new cases, all are Kenyans except 14 who are foreigners. 131 are males while 52 are females. The youngest case was a 7 month-old infant while the oldest is 80 years old.
She also confirmed that 82 recoveries; 33 from the home-based care programme while 49 were discharged from various health facilities.
The total number of recoveries stands at 23,611.
Sadly, 5 other Covid-19 patients succumbed in the same period, pushing the death toll to 642.
According to the CAS, 945 health workers have contracted the deadly virus since the index case was reported in March.
16 of these healthcare workers have succumbed.
The cases were distributed in the counties as follows: Nairobi 54, Kisumu 26, Mombasa 20, Trans Nzoia 16, Kericho 11, Nakuru 10, Kisii 7, Machakos 6, Meru 5, Turkana 5, Lamu 3, Nyeri 3, Siaya 3 and Kiambu 2, Kajiado 2, Busia 2, Homa Bay 2, Kilifi 2, Samburu 2, Kakamega 1 and Embu 1.
