A court has ordered for a mental assessment of Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and her bodyguard, Geoffrey Otieno.
The accused persons are expected to undergo a psychiatric test ahead of plea taking on Thursday.
In the meantime, the duo will be detained at Port Police Station.
Last week, Coast regional head of the Director of Public Prosecutions Alloys Kemo, confirmed murder and assault charges against Jumwa and her aide.

The two are accused of fatally injuring Ngubao Jola during the Ganda Ward in Malindi Constituency by-election in 2019.
Jola was shot in the shoulder and killed during the fracas. Several other people, including police officers, escaped with injuries.
Jumwa had on the fateful day reportedly stormed a meeting of ODM agents at a house belonging to Reuben Katana, the ODM candidate demanding to know why such a meeting would be held at night after the campaign period had lapsed.
“When I arrived at the event, I met a guy called Agunga who claimed that I would not interfere with the event as the police were around. I don’t know what the police were doing in the area. I believe ODM had a sinister motive as the campaign period was over. ODM should be held responsible for the death of the deceased. I would like to urge my followers to be calm and remain in their houses,” she said.

“We don’t know how the deceased died or who killed him. Reports claim that it was my bodyguard, the police or anonymous people like the ODM agent. We want justice for the Ganda residents.”
She and her aide would later be arrested and freed on bail.
