Blogger Mutai says his life on danger for criticising Ruto

Blogger Abraham Mutai has now claimed his life is in danger after receiving threats from alleged Deputy President Willaim Samoei Ruto supporters or those who work closely with him. Through a Facebook post on his official page on Saturday morning, Mutai who has been highlighting various issues affecting the country especially graft matters now says he has received two threats.

According to Mutai who seems to support Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua bit for the presidential seat in 2022, the first threat was specific and direct. On it, Mutai noted he was informed to watch his mouth or else won’t know what hit him.

“It was from an account that was created by someone in or close to or supporter of William Ruto. It was a newly created account that was 1day old main purpose was to send me the threat. It has since gone dormant. The second threat I received it 5days ago. An individual who also created an account to send me the threat this time around on Facebook told me clearly, my life is in danger if I continue speaking against William Ruto. He was specific.” Mutai noted in part of his post

Furthermore, Mutai revealed he has before criticised President Uhuru Kenyatta leadership and even got arrested but the head of state didn’t issue him life threat. However, Mutai claimed Uhuru asked him to go slow on him and alternatively be friends. He noted that his post might look petty for Ruto’s supporters but that is fact and he is not taking any chances on his life.

“William Ruto supporters seem to be aware that some death squads surround Ruto and they are OK with that. Let me tell you, the best leader is someone you criticize his leadership and still, you are not found dead. Anyone who makes you afraid of criticizing him is a dictator. And we have fought so hard as a country to be where we are. Our freedom of speech and doing things set us apart from the rest of the countries in the region. Our only rival is South Africa. Imagine an era where you criticize the President, you are not even arrested but your body is found in Amboseli! I have been threatened twice. My life is in danger.” He lamented
