Brilliant Aston Villa on Sunday badly embarrassed Liverpool 7-2 were in one of the strangest Premier League results in history.
And with Manchester United falling 6-1 against Tottenham Hotspur, it only proved to be merely the tip of the iceberg on Sunday afternoon as champions Liverpool shipped in 7 goals against a determined Aston Villa.
Liverpool fell to a humiliating defeat at the hands of Aston Villa as an Ollie Watkins hat-trick stunned the reigning Premier League champions.

After going 27 games unbeaten on the way to the title last season, Jurgen Klopp’s men lost in a demoralising fashion.
It took just four minutes for them to fall behind, as goalkeeper Adrian’s mistake gifted Ollie Watkins a goal through a Jack Grealish assist.
Watkins then fired his second soon after, cutting inside Joe Gomez and finding the top corner with a superb finish.
Mohamed Salah halved the deficit, but Villa’s advantage was immediately restored as John McGinn’s deflected volley found a way in, before Watkins headed in for his hat-trick.

From bad to worse for Liverpool
Ross Barkley then made it five as his effort cannoned off a Reds player and over Adrian, before Grealish added two more, with Salah’s strike in between nothing more than a consolation.
Salah then looked to have restored some hope with his second of the night, but it quickly proved to be a consolation with Jack Grealish proceeding to help himself to a remarkable brace.
The Villa captain first profited from a bit of luck when his deflected strike beat Adrian all ends up, yet there could be no denying the brilliance of his second with a fine one-on-one finish.

It’s a day the Premier League will never forget!
