Car Plunges Into Indian Ocean With Mother, Son Inside [VIDEO]

A lady has died while her son survived after their car plunged into Indian Ocean at Makupa Causeway on Wednesday Morning.

The two were travelling from Changamwe to Mombasa Island when the accident happened.

According to a local diver who rescued the woman, the car, a Toyota Vitz registration KCY 556B, was driving at a high speed before the accident happened.

“The car was moving at a high speed. I saw it heading towards Mombasa Island and all of a sudden, I saw it in the ocean. I rushed to rescue the occupants,” said Mr. Omar Chigamba, a local diver who saved the woman.

The woman identified as Ms. Winnie Achieng,33, succumbed while undergoing treatment at Coast General Hospital for taking in a lot of water.

The boy managed to swim to safety while the mother was strapped to her seat by a safety belt.
