Conman Joseph Gakono Arrested Selling Two Ostrich Eggs At Sh600,000

Detectives on Monday afternoon arrested a man who has been conning unsuspecting locals.

Joseph Gakono who has been obtaining money by false pretence was being pursued by the police after several people filed complaints against him.

According to Gichugu sub-county Police commander Anthony Mbogo, Gakono was in the process of selling two Ostrich eggs at a whopping Sh600,000 when the officers pounced on him.

The suspect has apparently been on the run after learning about his being wanted by the police.

It is said that Gakono has threatened his victims with death after asking for their money back.

In 2019, he was being sought by the police for obtaining for obtaining Sh98,000 from Caroline Karimi. He had promised a firewood supply contract at a local school.

Another victim, Joseph Mwangi lost Sh320,000 after he brokered a land deal with the suspect.

Gakono will be arraigned today (Tuesday) after which officers will seek to hold him for two more days to allow his victims record statements.
