COVID-19 Cases Shoot To 40,620 As 442 Contract Virus

On Friday, Health CAS Rashid Aman confirmed 442 new Covid-19 cases from 5,327 samples tested in the last 24 hours, pushing Kenya’s caseload to 40,620.

Of the positive cases, 419 are Kenyans while 23 are foreign nationals.

286 are male and 156 are female with the youngest case being a 3-year-old child and the oldest 86 years.

Speaking during the daily COVID-19 briefing, the CAS announced 166 recoveries raising total to 30,876.

26 of the discharges were patients receiving treatment at various hospitals and 140 under home-based care program.

4 more patients succumbed to the novel Coronavirus raising death toll to 755.

94 of the new cases were recorded in Nakuru, Nairobi (80) and Mombasa (47), Uasin Gishu (22), Embu (20), Kisumu (20), Turkana (18), Trans Nzoia (14), Meru (15), Kisii (13).

On matters the spike in the daily infections, CAS Aman blamed the recent political rallies in various parts of the country.

“Please avoid all sorts of social and political gathering as well as wear your mask and maintain social distancing,” he said.
