Education CS is on the spot for saying that BOM teachers have received their pay as promised by the government.
The comments have angered a section of teachers who have come forward claiming that they are yet to receive any money.
Nyeri Mp who is also the Vice-Chair, Education & Research Committee Ngunjiri Wambugu has taken to social media to voice is concerns over the matter, saying that he hopes that the CS did not lie on national television yesterday.
The Mp said that he has received numerous messages from people who claim that no BOM teacher has been paid.
Wambugu called out Ministry of Education officials led by the CS for misleading the president and call for a total overhaul of the ministry.
“If he did then my personal opinion is that he, and the team he works with at Jogoo House, is completely disconnected from what needs to happen in the Education sector at this time. These guys are letting the President down big-time and these calls for a complete leadership make-over in that Ministry.”
Currently, there is a trending social media hashtag #PayBOMteachers where many are bashing the Education CS claiming payments have been made.
Embakasi East Mp Babu Owino appealed to the Education CS to urgent resolve the matter as many were suffering for lack of money.
“Board of Management Teachers haven’t been paid and are really suffering/languishing in abject poverty. George Magoha should treat this as very urgent and important,” said Babu.
A random sample of BOM teachers across the country revealed that no one had been paid as claimed by the CS.
On August 25, Education CAS Zack Kinuthia took to social media to say: “I can confirm to you, as I was quoted at the back page of today’s Nation Paper, that verification was completed yesterday. No more issues emanating from that. And that approval was done to release money.”
