Police officers in Kwale County have disrupted Deputy President William Ruto’s allies’ meeting at Ukunda Showground in Msambweni Constituency.
It is reported that a contingent of anti-riot police officers on Friday morning, October 9, barricaded roads leading to the venue where several allies of DP Ruto were expected to attend the meeting to discuss ways they would beat Raila Odinga’s ODM to the Msambweni parliamentary seat.
The political meeting was to be attended by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa and former Senators Johnstone Muthama and Hassan Omar.
“Police mounted roadblocks and blocked Faisal Abdalla Bader former Senators; Johnson Muthama, Hassan Omar, Boni Khalwale, and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa from meeting at the venue,” Soy MP Caleb Kositany said on his official Twitter page.

This comes just a day after Dr Ruto was forced to cancel a fundraising meeting in Nyamira County after chaos rocked Kebirogo grounds.

The Kwale meeting was meant to drum up support for independent candidate Feisal Bader, who is eyeing the Msambweni seat in the by-election that will be conducted in December 15.
The DP’s team will go head to head with Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho who will lead campaigns for ODMs Omar Boga who won the party’s nomination as Odinga’s team sets out to reclaim the seat in the December 15 by-elections.
The deputy president had settled on Feisal after Jubilee Party announced that it would not field a candidate citing the handshake between the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The seat was declared vacant after MP Suleiman Dori succumbed to cancer in March 2020.
