Deputy President William Ruto is back at the Jubilee Party headquarters located in Pangani.
The DP is said to have made his way back to the party headquarters on Thursday morning at around 9 am and was joined in the afternoon by members of parliament of the “Tangatanga” faction.
The MPs and Senators present were apparently summoned for a meeting earlier today (Thursday).
The media has been locked out of the Jubilee party precincts as well as the meeting whose agenda remains unknown.
In attendance is Meru senator Mithika Linturi who told members of the fourth estate that they were called on by the party but were yet to find out the agenda of the impromptu meeting.
Another legislator told reporters that they were there to do “housekeeping.”
Party national Vice chair David Murathe has said the DP’s latest stunt is an attempt to overthrown the current party leadership.
Ruto was at the party HQs last week after the ruling party secretary general Raphael Tuju announced that the party will not be fielding a candidate during the Msambweni by-election slated for December 15.
The second in command disagreed with the party stance.
DP allies in June opened an office “Jubilee Asili” in Kilimani, where members who could not access the Pangani based headquarters could meet.
“What I know is that there is an office where the like-minded people have decided that they must hire so that those people who cannot access the Jubilee Headquarters to sit down to brainstorm and to try to at least to comfort one another,” Linturi said.
