A Kenya Television Network (KTN) news director Edwin Audi was among two people who died in a tragic road accident along Kajiado-Namanga road on Saturday evening.
The 42-year-old Standard Group employee was in an accident that involved three vehicles; a Toyota Probox and two lorries.
The 6:30 p.m accident is said to have taken place near Maili Saba.
“The driver of the Probox tried to avoid hitting an on-coming trailer ferrying timber headed to Kajiado town. The Probox hit the front right side of the truck which made it swerve off the road,” Central Sub-County police commander Daudi Lornyokwe said.
In the Probox were four occupants, one of whom was a Burundian national identified as 34-year-old Isidore Birigirimana.
The injured persons were taken to Namanga county government hospital for treatment.
Here are messages of condolence from friends:
Death is cruel. It has robbed us of Edu. Edwin Audi was one of the calmest news directors I have worked with. Hard to take but no more will my colleagues and I hear him on the talk back saying calmly, 'Usiwahi tense'. Wonderful human being, ever friendly. Rest in power, Edu. pic.twitter.com/7ViOTlexrg

DEATH, DEATH, DEATH!
I hate you, death! I hate you for tirelessly taking good people away from this world. EDWIN AUDI?!
That cool-voiced but thorough TV director? The very director who made sure 2019 Spelling Bee flowed like a magical river on #KTNTV?!RIP, Audi. But why, God?

RIP Edwin Audi, this is soooo sad. He directed me and I remember joking on air with him about the type of car he drives, whether it's an Audi and we laughed… 'Asante bro, wewe ni gwiji' were his last words…. The coolest and most humble News director I have ever met
