Facebook has removed 7 million posts for sharing FALSE information with regards to COVID 19

Facebook has removed 7 million posts for sharing FALSE information on COVID 19. The Giant social media company has said in a report it released yesterday for its second quarter.

This included “content that promoted fake preventative measures and exaggerated cures.”

It released the data as part of its sixth Community Standards Enforcement Report, which it introduced in 2018.

The world’s biggest social network said it would invite proposals from experts this week to audit the metrics used in the report, beginning in 2021.

Also on this second quarter, Facebook said it  removed about 22.5 million posts with hate speech a big increase from 9.6 million in the first quarter. Facebook has said the increase is due to tremendous improvements  internal detection technology.

Facebook as well removed 8.7 million posts connected to “terrorist” organisations, This is compared to 6million in the previous period..  4 million posts were removed that relate to organized hate groups

Facebook has said in a statement that it relied mostly on automation to remove these posts as most stuff are out of office due to the COVID-19 crisis.
