Lands Cabinet Secretary Faridah Karoney’s father Mzee Edward Kiprotich Karoney was laid to rest in a low key burial ceremony at his Kamobo home on Wednesday, October 14.
He was buried in accordance to Islamic culture.

Family, relatives and friends were joined by high ranking government officials led by Nandi County Governor Stephen Sang.
While eulogizing the late Karoney, Governor Sang – who read Deputy President’s message of condolence – described him as an astute educationist, a counsellor and a successful farmer who was widely respected.
“Mzee Edward Karoney was an educationist and an astute farmer whose success in Agriculture was an inspiration to many. Mzee was a counsellor and revered person in society. We have lost a person who was a pillar in all sectors of our economy.” Governor Sang Mourned.
Leaders who attended the burial included Cabinet Secretaries George Magoha (Education), Margaret Kobia (Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs), Simon Chelugui (Water), Charles Keter (Energy),Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago among others.

Former Faridah Karoney’s boss at Royal Media Services Wachira Waruru was also present.
Mzee Karoney died on Tuesday, October 13 following a grissly road accident involving a boda boda along the Kapsabet Kakamega road.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at Kapsabet County Referral Hospital.
Nandi county police commander Samson Ole Kine informed that the boda boda rider sustained injuries and is still admitted at the same hospital.
