A 18-year-old Form Three student on Wednesday evening, October 28, committed suicide at Alara village in Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County, after his childhood girlfriend left him.
Kelvin Omondi, who was a student at Alara Mixed Secondary School, reportedly hanged himself using a sisal rope after his girlfriend ended their relationship.
The girlfriend, a Form Three student at a neighboring school, had informed him of her decision to end the relationship through a phone call.
South West Kwabwai Location Chief Grace Oguta while confirming the incident said that Omondi killed himself immediately after the phone conversation with the girl in which they reportedly disagreed.
According to the Chief, the girl’s mother who was against her love affair with the boy is the one who forced her to end the relationship.
The two are said to have been in a relationship since their primary school days and the boy was not happy when the girl decided to walk away.
The deceased body was taken to Sori Lakeside mortuary.
