Police in Suna West, Migori County are investigating the death of a Form one girl whose body was discovered in a nearby church on Tuesday morning, November 10.
According to police reports, the 15-year-old girl was rapped and killed before being dumped in the church.
The residents said that the girl had a swelling on the neck, indicating that she may have been strangled to death.
The police said that they are yet to establish the circumstances that led to the minor’s death.
The girl was living with her aunt who was away when the incident occurred on Monday night, November 9.
The aunt, Betty Odhiambo told the police that she left her niece in the company of her two daughters and had locked them inside the house before living to Migori town.
She however denied having any knowledge of what might have transpired on the fateful night adding that the door was still locked when she returned home on Tuesday morning.
The police said that the deceased may have escaped the house through the window
The body was moved to Migori Level Four Hospital awaiting autopsy.
The residents have raised concerns on the increasing criminal activities in the area urging the security officers to move with speed to restore security.
