A deadly accident on Wednesday, October 14 night claimed the lives of four people after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a grisly road accident along Mai Mahiu-Narok highway.
The traigic accident happened when Matatu heading Nairobi from Narok collided head on with a lorry coming from the opposite direction at around 7 pm.
Confirming the incident, Narok county police Commander Mutoro Kizito said eight other passengers sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment at the Narok county referral hospital.
The driver of the lorry, said to have speeding at the time of the accident, is said to have lost control of the vehicle just before the accident happened.
Narok line shuttle services matatu is reported to have been attempting to overtake a tractor at the time of the accident.
Among the dead was a police chaplain based in Narok.
The accident came hot on the heels of another deadly road carnage which claimed the lives of four family members on their way from a relative’s funeral on Tuesday evening.
The accident occurred near Kadongo Market on Oyugis- Kisii Road in Homa Bay when a 14-seater Nissan matatu collided with a truck head-on killing three people on the spot and injuring seven others.
Authorities have called on drivers to be cautious while on the road saying most accidents on the country’s roads are as a result of human error.
