Harambee stars Head Coach Francis Kimanzi has resigned from his position.

In a press statement on Saturday, October 20, the Kenya Football Federation secretary general Barry Otieno said that the head coach and backroom parted in mutual consent.

The statement said that the 45-year old coach and his entire technical bench, consisting assistant coach Zedekiah Otieno and goalkeeping coach Lawrence Webo had left via mutual consent.

While it is not yet clear what prompted his resignation, the federation thanked Kimanzi for his time and dedication to his work.

Here is the statement from the Federation

“Harambee Stars Head Coach Francis Kimanzi and part of his backroom staff have left the national team by mutual consent.

The federation is immensely grateful to Coach Kimanzi and his departing members of staff that include assistant coach Zedekiah Otieno and goalkeeper trainer Lawrence Webo for their exemplary work, dedication and unrivalled professionalism which has strengthened Kenya’s chances of qualifying for the AFCON 2022 final tournament.

All at the federation wish them well in their future endeavours, this even as the search for replacement to take the national team forward begins in earnest.

There will be no further comment from FKF until a new appointment is made in the coming days.”
