Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior is the best performing senator in the country.
This is according to a recent survey released on Wednesday, November 11. the poll was conducted between November 2019 and January 2020.
Accprding to the research, Mutula scored 66.4 per cent beating Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Samburu’s Lelegwe Ltumbesi who scored 58.8 per cent and 57.2 per cent respectively.
Closing top five best performing senators are Kwale’s Issa Juma (55.4 per cent) and Kakamega’s Cleophas Malala (54.8 percent).
The research also ranked Tana River Senator Wario Golich Juma as the worst-performing senator amongst the 47 elected lawmakers with a score of 36.4 per cent.
Closing the bottom five are Wajir’s Abdulahi Ibrahim (39.1 per cent), Nyandarua’s Mwangi Paul Githiomi (39.8 per cent), Trans Nzoia’s Michael Mbito (39.9 per cent) and Kajiado’s Mpayeei Salau (40.1 per cent).
“The question we were asking the respondents is how they would rate the overall performance of their senators on a scale of 1-10, where one meant worst, and 10 the best,” said Infotrak CEO Angela Ambitho.
The research firm ranked the senators based on their performance both in the House and in their counties.
The opinion poll also ranked members of county assemblies (MCAs) of Makueni and Embu counties as the best performing MCAs in the country with a score of 54.2 per cent.
They were followed closely by Baringo and Vihiga MCAs who scored an average score of 51.5 per cent while Nyeri MCAs came at number four (50.5 per cent).
Makueni County Assembly also topped in the overall performance (58.5 per cent) followed by Kwale (57.4 per cent) and West Pokot came third (54.6 per cent).
