Kangema MP Muturi Kigano To Receive Sh10 Million From Chinese Company Over Thika Road Accident

A Chinese company has been ordered by court to pay Kangema MP Muturi Kigano Sh10 million over an accident that occured on March 8, 2011.

The MP will receive Sh2 million in special damages and Sh8 million for suffering.

The court found that Shegli Engineering Construction Group Ltd did not care for Thika Road users during construction.

The legislator suffered scalp injuries, a fractured skull and sensorineural hearing loss.

“If the defendant left, the duty of care was solely on the part of the employer (Ministry of Roads), It would have as well taken out a third-party proceedings, but the defendant failed to do so,” Justice Joseph Sergon ruled.

On the material day, the MP was driving his Toyota Lexus when he found the road blocked without warning signs.

On the road were heaps of murram near Juja.

The lawmaker braked but hit hit the murram and concrete barricade causing the car to roll a couple of times.

Bystanders rushed Kigano to a clinic located within the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
