Kenya Records 19 Covid Deaths as Case Load Reach 75, 000

Covid 19 cases continue to rise even as cases now stand at 75,193.

The ministry of health on Friday announced that 1,048 people have been confirmed Covid-19 positive from a sample size of 8,660.

The death toll continues to also rise as 19 patients have succumbed to the disease bringing the fatality to 1,349.

There are 1,114 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 6,332 are on home based isolation and care.

The ministry further said that 326 patients have recovered from the disease, 219 from the home-based care programme while 107 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total recoveries now stand at 50,984.

52 patients are in the ICU, 28 of whom are on ventilatory support and 24 are on supplemental oxygen.

Another 71 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 70 are in the general wards, while one is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Distribution of the  cases  by counties is as follows; Nairobi 408, Kericho 84, Mombasa 80, Kiambu 71, Busia 52, Migori 36, Uasin Gishu 35, Kisumu and Machakos with 25 cases each, Kajiado 23, Siaya 18, Bungoma 15, Nakuru 13, Kakamega 14 and Taita Taveta 12.

Others are Bomet, Makueni and Nyeri with 11 cases each, Kilifi and Laikipia have  10 each, Baringo, Nandi and Kwale with nine cases each, Meru eight, Vihiga six, Murang’a five, West Pokot five, Mandera five, Kitui five.

Kirinyaga has four cases, Trans Nzoia and Embu with three cases each, Elgeyo Marakwet, Narok 2, Tharaka Nithi, Garissa and Tana River with two cases each, while Homabay, Turkana and Nyamira have one case each.
