Kenyan Family in Agony After Engineering Student Dies in Russia

A Kenyan family is mourning the death of their kin who passed on in Russia on September 21, 2020 after a short illness.

According to Citizen TV, 19 year old Abraham Mwendwa, an Engineering student at Russia’s St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University died while undergoing treatment on Monday.

The late Abraham Mwendwa, was an alumnus of Alliance Boys High School.

Last year he received a government scholarship to study Electrical Engineering and his parents were excitement

The devastated family did not in their imaginations know that their son will return home in a casket.

And after losing their kin, the family is now faced with the burden of flying Mwendwa’s remains for a proper burial.

The family told Citizen TV that they do not have the financial ability to repatriate and are now appealing for assistance from the public and the Kenyan government to offset medical bills amounting to Ksh.1.5 million.

Following Mwendwa’s deaths, the Kenya Students Community in Russia have pointed fingers at the embassy of neglecting them as his death was the third case in the year 2020.

They are now calling for the government’s intervention in addressing their concerns to avoid similar occurrences in future.

Family, relatives and friends are converging at Ambrose Mwendwa’s home in Utalii Village on Thika Road, to mourn Abraham’s sudden demise.
