Taking to his twitter account, the union’s acting secretary general Dr Chibanzi Mwachonda mourned him as a mentor and leader in nephrology.
“14 days ago you asked us to pray for you, as you got re-admitted to ICU due to COVID-19 complications. We wake up to the heartbreaking & devastating news of your demise. A teacher, mentor & leader in nephrology. Your ultimate reward lies with the Almighty,” Mwachonda said on twitter.
Kenya Medical Practitioners and Pharmacists and Dentist’s Union (KMPDU) on Sunday last week convened a Special National Advisory Council meeting on Sunday to deliberate “on the way forward on the welfare, occupational safety and health of all doctors”.
The urgent meeting had been called after four medical doctors lost their battle to coronavirus over the past one week to raise concerns over the safety of the medics on the frontline in the fight against the global pandemic.
