Kiunjuri Issues one Condition to DP Ruto over Possible Coalition

The Service Party (TSP) leader and former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has declared his intention to form a coalition with Deputy President William Ruto ahead of 2022 general elections.

Kiunjuri wants to use his new political outfit to popularize DP Ruto’s 2022 ambition in Mt. Kenya region and propel him to State House in 2022.

The TSP leader who spoke on Tuesday evening, October 13, during the funeral of Mr Moses Ndirangu, 41, at Muramati village in Laikipia North constituency , further gave one condition that the deputy president must meet in order to cement his Central Kenya support.

The former Agriculture CS said that his party would freely join Ruto’s camp only if it served the interests of Mt Kenya residents.

“I assure the Deputy President of my support in the forthcoming General Election but as you know, one must carry his or her own umbrella whenever it rains. That is why I have TSP.”

“Dr Ruto must demonstrate how we stand to gain as people of Mt Kenya in his administration,” Kiunjuri stated.

He also castigated the recent tour of a section of Kikuyu elders to the rural home of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga in Bondo.

The elders installed the ODM boss as the successor of President Uhuru Kenyatta when he retires in 2022.

Kiunjuri laughed off the event likening the elders’ visit to “a girl who pays her own bride price contrary to the customs and traditions of the Kikuyu community”.

“We recently saw some women and elders going to the extent of paying dowry on behalf of the Kikuyu community. How can a lady pay for her own bride price at the bridegroom’s home and then demands to be forcefully married?” He added.
