Narc Kenya Party leader and former Gichugu Mp Martha Karua has given a scathing assessment of the Jubilee government, accusing the ruling party for taking Kenyans for a ride.
She noted that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government had failed on a magnitude scale, by abandoning Kenyans on their own during the covid-19 pandemic.
In a press conference held today in Nairobi, the former Justice Minister has also accused the Jubilee administration of mismanagement of covid-19 billions and called for all donor funds to be audited.
“We demand full disclosure, transparency and accountability for all COVID-19 funds, resources and equipment from all sources including loans, grants, donations and in-kind support both locally and internationally,” said Karua.
At the same time, Karua accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of running a collapsed government that continues to kill the economy through corruption and over taxing of its citizens.
“For all practical purposes, this government has collapsed. The only things that seems to be functioning in this government are misprocurement, taxation and political patronage. Kenyans deserve better,” said Martha Karua.
Over the past few days, Kenyans have been up in arms after media reports indicated that the Ministry of Health in conjunction with Kemsa had carried out skewed procedures in procuring PPE kits to running into billions of shillings.
Those accused of corrupt practices are senior ministry officials thought to have greatly benefited from covid-19 donor funds.
