MCA Arrested in Connection to Theft of County Bulldozer

Kitui MCA Sylvester Munyalo Kitheka has been arrested over the theft of a Ksh30 million county bulldozer.

Kitheka had gone underground since October 16 when the county prosecution office ordered his arrest and that of his aide in connection with the theft of the bulldozer in August.

The bulldozer was reportedly stolen when it was doing road works in Kitheka’s ward.

The police later found the machinery in Ruiru, more than 100 kilometres away after receiving anonymous call that the machine had been spotted it at a desolate place.

The investigation pointed an accusing finger at the MCA and recommended his prosecution together with his aide who is yet to be found.

The arrest order of Kitheka and Bizmark Nzivu was issued by Kitui DPP coordinator.

At some point the CID picked his phone signal in Nairobi and rushed there only to pick the same signal in Hola, Tana River.

The MCA’s tricks came to an end on Tuesday last week after detectives laid a trap for him at Kitui county referral hospital where he had gone for treatment.

Matinyani sub-county police commander John Sawe while confirming the arrest of the MCA said that he was freed on police bond after he claimed that he was sick.

The police directed the MCA to present himself in court on Wednesday, November 4.

“The MCA is sickly and he was therefore given police bond to appear in court on November 4,” he told the Star.
