Two rival groups clashed on Monday morning in Kenol, Murang’a County ahead of Deputy President William Ruto’s visit.
The DP is expected to attend a church service at AIPCA Kenol Church where he is scheduled to attend a fundraiser.
Ruto will be hosted by firebrand lawyer and Kandara MP Alice Wahome.
The morning clashes led to the death of a youth while several others sustained injuries.
Videos circulating online show youths blocking the Kenol-Murang’a road paralysing transport along the busy road.
Others are seen throwing stones at each other, destroying property within the area.
They've now sponsored violence at Kenol, Muranga to frustrate DP Ruto's visit to the area. To what extent is this axis of evil-doers willing to go to perpetuate their evil schemes? pic.twitter.com/d4OGmImN9K

Locals said that five buses were seen ferrying people to the area causing tension.
“They were in five buses, and we have never seen them before, they came in and started lighting tires on the road,” a witness told Inooro TV.
A woman, identified as Mercy Wangui confessed to having received Sh1,000 in order to disrupt the fundraiser.
She was among those ferried from the neighboring Thika and Kiandutu areas.
