A Police officer has gone into hiding after allegedly teargassing his girlfriend in Nyamarabe, Gucha South Sub-County in Kisii County.
Richard Bosire, who is attached to Rakwaro Police Station in Rongo Sub-County, Migori County, allegedly threw a teargas canister into the house of his girlfriend before taking off.
According to police reports, a 15-year-old girl, the daughter of the woman, was in the house at the time of the incident.
She escaped managed to escape the incident uninjured.
In a report filed at the Nyamarabe Police Station, the girl said thath she saw her mother’s boyfriend [the police officer], throw the teargas, which exploded her bedroom.
Her mother was away when the incident occurred.
Police recovered an exploded canister at the scene.
Elsewhere, a 33-year-old woman from Kigane Village, Meru County, is recovering at the Consolata Hospital in Nkubu after she was slashed with a machete by her husband who accused her of infidelity.
The couple are said to have had a quarrel on Friday night, December 4 before the husband allegedly retrieved a machete, which had been tucked under the bed, shaved her hair with it and cut off part of her right ear.
The husband also chopped off two fingers and slashed her on the back and head.
“I raised the alarm but he had already locked the door. His brothers broke the door and rescued me. I ran off to his mother’s house,” she recounted.
Ms Kambura, who has been married for the last 10 years, says she has endured constant squabbles but never thought they would escalate to her being attacked with a panga.
“We have been having squabbles but I never suspected anything of this magnitude would happen. On the material day, we had spent the day peacefully. My life has been ruined because I was working for myself but now there is nothing, I can do for myself. I would like to urge fellow women to be on the lookout. If you are being threatened with death, walk out,” she said.
Her husband has since gone into hiding.
