Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka- who many in Ukambani have nicknamed "the undisputed king of politics of poverty" has summoned Wiper allied MCAs to his home in Yatta Sub County at 10 am this Tuesday.

Kalonzo, who has been fighting the development agenda mooted by governors Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Charity Ngilu (Kitui) and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) has hatched another desperate scheme to make the three counties ungovernable using the majority MCAs in the respective county assemblies.

The three governors have unveiled the Peoples Empowerment Movement with the overall intention of rolling back poverty through a transformative approach of economic empowerment of residents through planned and sustained effort to blend good leadership with full exploitation of resources and opportunities.

The new development has not gone down well with Kalonzo, who from history is known to thrive in divisive politics and suppression of locals for easy governance.

It is understood the Tuesday’s meeting between him and the MCAs will be used to give them orders to sabotage the respective executives through all ways possible including and not limited to shooting down development budgets and tabling impeachment Motions against the county chiefs and selected executive county committee (ECM) members.

MCAs are expected to resume sittings from a long recess early February.

But Kalonzo’s plot against the three governors may not ultimately succeed as not all Wiper MCAs are keen on blindly fulfilling the wishes of their party boss.

“We are aware of the intent of the meeting is not for the common good of the people of Ukambani. Some of us who believe in empowering our people and discharging the constitutional mandate for which we got elected will not be party to that meeting,” said a Wiper MCA from Makueni County.

The MCA said it was wrong for Kalonzo to spend too much energy engaging the county assemblies to frustrate the governors, who have been racing against time to transform the region which had lagged behind in matters development over the years.

“Kalonzo will not be remembered for anything apart from lobbying for the establishment of a prison in Yatta,” said another MCA from Machakos.
