Members of the county assembly (MCAs) drawn from Maendeleo Chap Chap, Jubilee, DP, NARC, Muungano, Ford K parties and others elected as independent candidates have announced a mega demonstration scheduled for Monday to support governor Alfred Mutua's development agenda.

The MCAs, who addressed a press conference at the Lysak Hotel on Friday said police had already been notified about the planned event, which start at Mulu Mutisya gardens in Machakos town.

Led by Kangundo West MCA, Titus Kaloki, the Ward representatives revealed they had marshalled thousands of Dr Mutua's supporters from across the eight constituencies.

\'We have asked them to carry white handkerchiefs as a symbol Machakos requires peace and tranquility as opposed to constant wrangles and political side shows aimed at frustrating government efforts to deliver services to Wananchi,\' said Kaloki.

At the same time, they warned their colleagues from Wiper party against any attempts to disrupt the planned procession. \'We are surprised to learn that a group of Wiper party MCAs purport to have notified the police to take part in protests on the same day. We are telling them that such attempts will be resisted,\' he said.

The MCAs noted it was unfortunate that their colleagues from wiper party had spent their entire time in the assembly sabotaging the development plans laid down by the executive.

\'We will not succumb to diversionary attempts by them because majority have no agenda apart from shooting down Dr Mutua's development agenda,\' they declared.
