Prison Warden Nabbed With 10,000 Safaricom Sim Cards [VIDEO]

Police in Bondo, Siaya County have arrested a Prison Warder based at the Prison Headquarters in connection to irregular SIM swap and SIM Card registration.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in a statement released on Thursday, October 22, Constable Charles Opollo Ndaga was found in possession of over 10,000 Safaricom Sim Cards registered under different names.

Police also recovered two Equitel SIM Cards, three Identity Cards, a laptop, four mobile phones, a cheque book among other items in his house.

 The warden was arrested within the Sinapanga Estate in Bondo, Siaya County.

“A Prison Warder based at Prison Headquarters has been arrested for irregular Sim Swap/ Sim Card Registration. Prison Constable Charles Opollo Ndaga was arrested within Sinapanga Estate- Bondo Township.”

“Over 10,000 Safaricom Sim Cards registered under different names, two Equitel Sim Cards and three ID Cards, a laptop, several mobile phones, a cheque book among other items were recovered in his house.” The DCI statement reads in part.

He was arrested along with two other suspects who were not identified.

County Police boss Francis Kooli said that the three suspects were arrested following a tip off from the members of the public.

Kooli added that the police have already launched investigations to establish more suspects involved in the illegal business that involves the illegal swapping and registration of Sim cards.

The three are currently being held at the Bondo Police Station awaiting arraignment in court.
