Students From a Migori School Breakdown in Assembly Mourning Principal’s Death [VIDEO]

A sombre mood engulfed Oyugi Ogango Girls’ Secondary School in Rongo, Migori County after the school principal succumbed to Covid-19 related complications on Tuesday morning.

Martha Ouma died while undergoing treatment at Nightingale Hospital in Kisumu.

The form four students who are currently in school in Rongo could not hold back their tears while mourned the death of their beloved school principal.

While confirming the news, Migori county education officer Elizabeth Otieno dismissed reports that the principal died of Covid-19 terming the social media posts attributing her death to the deadly as false and alarming.

“She was unwell for long and the death has shocked us, we are waiting for further details and results from the Ministry of Health on what might have caused her death. We discourage alarm over the death with unconfirmed reports,” Migori County Education officer said.

Migori county Health executive Iscar Oluoch and the Migori KUPPET secretary general Orwa Jasolo also dismissed the rumours stating that cause of her death is still unknown.

“We have concerns as education stakeholders over Covid-19, but rumours on the deaths are unfounded and not confirmed,” KUPPET Sec Gen Orwa Jasolo said.

This comes a day after a KSCE candidate at Lureko Secondary School in Mumias West Constituency, Kakamega County succumbed to the Covid-19 on Monday, November 16.
