A section of Baringo County Assembly MCAs have called on their county Senator Gideon Moi reconsider his 2022 presidential ambitions and support Deputy President William Ruto instead.
Speaking on Tuesday during a press briefing at Kabarnet town in Baringo, the MCAs led by Barwessa’s Reuben Chepsongol and his Tenges Ward counterpart Silas Tochim, urged the young Moi to avoid being used by dynasties to create political disunity amongst the Kalenjin community in Rift Valley.
The two clearly stated that it is not wise for Senator Gideon to give in to some political brokers lying to him that he is fit to run for the presidency in 2022 thus bringing confusion yet he is unripe for the race.
They however vowed to support their son of the soil in 2032 should he decide to reconsider his ambitions and rally behind Ruto, who according to them, was best suited to take over from President Uhuru once he retires in 2022.
“Please Gideon, let’s all support William Ruto in 2022 then we will support you in 2032…kindly note that the unity of Kalenjin nation is so paramount”, the duo pleaded.
At the same time, the two hit out at ODM party leader Raila Odinga saying his recent sentiments in Bomet saying they were all hustlers are misleading and misguided.
Chepsongol rubbished Raila’s sentiments saying he was brought up in a well off family and never struggled in his endeavors. They only recognized the former President Jomo Kenyatta as the only legitimate person who could have called himself a hustler.
“You are the dynasties and you should never reject that tag, Ruto is the only legitimate person who can claim to be a Hustler…you and Uhuru used a Mercedes Benz when going to school while Ruto trekked barefooted,” stated Chepsongol.
He warned that they will not be intimidated to support BBI, an ‘animal’ which they said they have not seen its final recommendations.
“Raila knows very well that he is being taken round in circles concerning the BBI by the deep state, we can’t accept that and all God will never allow BBI to happen,” reiterated MCA Tochim
The MCAs confirmed their support for Maraga’s suggestion to have Uhuru dissolve parliament saying it was not necessary to have leaders who don’t support the rule of law.
The duo accused a section of Kanu leaders who have been appointed to top leadership positions from Baringo county saying they do not take calls belonging to those who support William Ruto in the county.
They said they were eagerly waiting for Ruto’s presidency so that they can take the opportunity to access resources to develop all parts of Baringo county without discriminating.
