Zero COVID-19 Deaths As 151 Contract Virus, 173 Others Recover

Kenya has confirmed 151 new Covid-19 cases after testing 2,552 samples, Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman has announced.

The total number of infections has risen to 35,356 and the total of cumulative tests carried out in the last six months 479,697.

Of the new cases, all are Kenyan nationals except two who were foreigners. They were aged between 3 and 74-years-old.

CAS Aman also confirmed that for the first time more women than men had contracted the deadly virus.  77 of the new cases are female while 74 are male.

In the last 24 hours, 173 patients recovered from the disease, pushing the number of recoveries to 21,483.

On a positive note, zero Covid-19 deaths were recorded in the same period of time, As a result the death toll still stands at 599.

The cases were recorded in the counties as follows: Kitui (54), Nairobi (23), Uasin Gishu (11), Kiambu, Migori and Garissa (9) cases each, Kisii (7), Trans Nzoia (6), Narok (4), Kericho (3), Mombasa, Taita Taveta, Machakos, Kilifi and Busia (2) cases each, Laikipia, Bomet, Nakuru, Meru. Kajiado and Nyandarua (1) case each.

The 54 cases in Kitui were reported in: Kitui Central (27), Kitui Rural and Kitui West (8) cases each, Mwingi Central (5), Kitui East (4), Kitui South and Mwingi North (1) case each.

Nairobi cases were from: Embakasi South (4), Westlands (3), Dagoretti North, Dagoretti South, Embakasi West, Makadara and Ruaraka (2) cases each, Embakasi East, Embakasi North, Kibra, Langata, Roysambu and Starehe (1) case each.

Uasin Gishu infections were from: Ainamoi (10) and Soi (1).

Those from Kiambu were reported in: Kiambaa, Kiambu Town, Ruiru and Thika (2) cases each and Lari (1).
